Prince Harry and Meghan Markle introduced their one-year-old daughter Lilibet to her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, during their trip to the UK for the monarch's Platinum Jubilee celebrations - but fans of the family hoping for an official photo of the occasion have been left bereft.

The Queen, 96, met her great-granddaughter at Windsor Castle on June 1, according to reports - the day before the Trooping the Colour ceremony was held as part of the Platinum Jubilee festivities. However, the monarch reportedly would not allow a photographer to be present to capture the meeting.

The Queen's refusal to have the moment photographed led to speculation that the 96-year-old did not want her reportedly frail condition to be documented by the media. Others suggested the Queen was attempting to avoid 'unauthorised' photos of the meeting being used by US television networks, or in upcoming content under Harry and Meghan's deal with streaming giant Netflix.

Yet a report by The Telegraph has seemingly put paid to the rumour mill, with the newspaper reporting that the Queen had been suffering from a significantly bloodshot eye on the day she was introduced to her newest great-grandchild.

It's understood Prince Harry's request to bring his own photographer to document the occasion was denied, and the father-of-two is reportedly still hoping for an official picture of his daughter and grandmother together in the near future.

"The Duke is thought to have expressed a desire to get an official photograph of the two Lilibets together at some point in the future," royal commentator Camilla Tominey wrote in The Telegraph, referencing the Queen's childhood nickname - baby Lilibet's namesake.

Harry and Meghan relocated to the US in 2020 and currently reside in California with Lilibet and their three-year-old son Archie.

The controversial couple, who stepped down from their royal duties in March 2020 to pursue financial independence and escape the notorious British tabloids, kept a low profile during their visit to the UK last month.

To commemorate Lilibet's first birthday, Harry and Meghan had sweet portraits taken of the child by photographer Misan Harriman - the first images of Lilibet where her face is fully visible.
