Actor Alec Baldwin is convinced no one will be charged over the fatal shooting on the set of the movie Rust last year, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed.
Baldwin placed the blame for Hutchin's death on 24-year-old Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who was the armourer and props assistant for the film, and the assistant director Dave Halls, who handed the actor the gun.
According to Yahoo News, through their attorneys, Gutierrez Reed and Halls accused Baldwin of deflecting blame onto others.
In an interview with CNN, the 64-year-old actor hit back at the accusation and said: "Someone put a live bullet in the gun who should have known better."
The actor went on to say it was Gutierrez Reed's responsibility.
"Her job was to look at the ammunition and put in the dummy round or the blank round, and there wasn't supposed to be any live rounds on the set," Baldwin told CNN.
He said that he didn't want his fellow crew members to be criminally charged with the fatal shooting but made it clear they were the ones responsible.
"There are two people who didn't do what they were supposed to do. I'm not sitting there saying I want them to, you know, go to prison, or I want their lives to be hell. I don't want that, but I want everybody to know that those are the two people that are responsible for what happened."
Despite this, the actor still doesn't think those he has accused of being responsible will be charged.
"I sincerely believe [investigators are] going to say that this was an accident. It's tragic," he told CNN.
Baldwin is waiting on a decision from prosecutors who will decide whether he should be criminally charged over the accident on October 21 last year, Yahoo News reported.
An FBI forensics report revealed the gun had malfunctioned during FBI testing after internal parts had fractured, which caused the gun to go off in the cocked position without pulling the trigger.
The actor has repeatedly said he pulled back the gun's hammer and released it but he did not pull the trigger.
