UK broadcaster Piers Morgan has sparked fury for laying into Meghan and Harry during Queen Elizabeth's final journey to Windsor.
Just moments into reporting, Morgan could not leave his anger toward the Duchess of Sussex aside, confessing that he hopes Harry "wakes up" and Meghan was a "lost cause".
The former Good Morning Britain host was covering Queen Elizabeth's funeral on Monday night (NZ time) for US TV station Fox News with Sharon Osbourne, and the pair soon started discussing the royal rift.
"We've all been following this soap opera drama," Morgan said, according to the Mirror. "The bottom line is that it's hard to ignore them when you have this renegade royal family… Trying to have their royal cake and eat it."
He went on to say Harry made himself the "black sheep" and suggested he wanted to "settle scores" for his mother Princess Diana.
Osborne expressed her confusion on why the pair left the royal family but still continue to talk about the royals, to which Morgan replied he hopes Harry "wakes up" and gives back the money he earned from his book.
"She's [Meghan] probably a lost cause in this because she just wants to be rich and famous," Morgan said.
Morgan added that the pair's Oprah interview was hard to forgive, as it was just after Prince Philip had fallen ill.
"You made the Queen's life so difficult for the last two years of her life," he said.
Many people watching the coverage from home were unhappy with Morgan's comments discussing the Duke and Duchess and their rift during the Queen's funeral.
"Shame on @piersmorgan for this show some respect," one person tweeted.
"Very inappropriate timing of them both to behave that way," another said.
"Let it go," said a third.
