Metlink warns Six60 fans about lack of public transport options to rescheduled Wellington concert

Metlink is warning Six60 concert-goers there will be limited public transport options available for the rescheduled gig on Sunday and urge ticket holders to seek alternative travel arrangements instead.

It comes after Six60 was forced to postpone its show at Wellington's Sky Stadium on Saturday due to dire weather conditions.

"This was not a decision taken lightly, and shows are only ever postponed at the last minute if there is a genuine risk to public safety," a spokesperson for the band said.

Metlink said they had put in a range of extra services and capacity for Saturday's concert but are unable to do so on Sunday for the hastily rescheduled performance.

"Sunday timetables are in effect which means there are fewer trains and buses in service - severely limiting the amount of people they can take on board," Metlink said.

"Sunday services finish earlier than traditional Saturday and weekday services which may leave some concert-goers without public transport options to get home after the performance."

Metlink also said buses are replacing some train services on Sunday evening so works can be carried out on the entire Hutt Valley line, and between Wellington and Porirua for the Kapiti line.

People attending the concert on Sunday are urged to check the Metlink app and website before travelling.

"Metlink strongly encourages passengers to seek alternative transport arrangements wherever possible."

There's good news for those hoping to drive to the gig however, with Wellington City Council announcing time limits will not apply on metered parking in the CBD from 4pm today.

The spokesperson for the band said the rescheduled show will now take place on Sunday and all tickets remain valid for the new date.

Refunds will be available by following the Ticketek refund process before the gate opening time for the postponed show at 4:30pm on Sunday.

Email your refund request to online@ticketek.co.nz and quote your Ticketek transaction or account number. If your original ticket purchase was via credit card and that card has subsequently been cancelled or has expired, or you purchased at an agency, please include your bank account details.
