Guitarist Jeff Beck has died aged 78.
Beck's family said the legendary rocker died on Tuesday (UK time) after "suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis".
"On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck's passing," the family said in a statement.
"After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss."
Beck joined The Yardbirds in 1965 just days after the departure of Eric Clapton, but was subsequently fired from the group himself in 1967 after failing to show up for gigs.
Beck remained prolific until his death.
In 2022, he released album 18 with actor Johnny Depp. The pair performed shows around the UK while Depp was waiting the verdict in his defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Beck had been performing with Depp when the verdict was released in the Fairfax County Court.
Tributes have started to appear online for Beck, with KISS singer Gene Simmons saying his death was "heartbreaking".
"Heartbreaking news to report the late, great Jeff Back has sadly passed. No one played guitar like Jeff. Please get ahold of the first two Jeff Beck Group albums and behold greatness. RIP," he said on Twitter.
