Tributes have begun to flow in after the "devastating" death of Lisa Marie Presley.
The 54-year-old, daughter of rock'n'roll legend Elvis Presley, was earlier hospitalised after suffering a cardiac arrest.
In a statement published by the Associated Press (AP) her mother, Priscilla Presley, confirmed her daughter's death.
"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," she said.
"She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known."
American actress Leah Remini shared a heartfelt tribute to Twitter on Friday, saying she was "heartbroken" over Presley's death.
"Lisa did not have an easy life, as some might think. May she be at peace, resting with her son and father now," she wrote.
Fellow actress Lydia Cornell shared a touching tribute too, tweeting "rest in peace Lisa Marie Presley".
"My heart goes out to her mother Priscilla, her children and family. She is with Benjamin and Elvis."
Academy award-winning actress Octavia Spencer joined the chorus of tributes on Twitter too.
"So sad that we've lost another bright star in Lisa Marie Presley. My condolences to her loved ones and multitude of fans," she wrote.
US singer LeAnn Rimes tweeted her heartbreak.
"How heartbreaking. I hope she is at peace in her dad's arms. My heart goes out to her family. Too much grief in just a couple of years."
John Travolta shared an Instagram post saying: "Lisa baby girl, I'm so sorry. I'll miss you but I know I'll see you again. My love and heart goes out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper and Finley".
The 54-year-old had attended the Golden Globe on Tuesday (US time), where she witnessed actor Austin Butler win an award for his portrayal of her father in the film Elvis.
Presley had three children, including actress Riley Keough. She was previously married to singer Michael Jackson and actor Nicholas Cage, among others.
Lisa Marie inherited her father's estate at the age of 25, which at the time was estimated to be worth about US$100 million.
She released three albums, two of which cracked the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
