Pedro Pascal is having an enormous year as the star of The Last of Us and The Mandalorian, two of the biggest shows on the planet.
Those two hugely beloved series mean he's bonded with some of New Zealand's most beloved screen stars too: Melanie Lynskey in HBO's acclaimed adaptation of the PlayStation game, as well as Taika Waititi and Temuera Morrison through the Star Wars show.
"I started very early with all three of them as a fan," Pascal told Newshub.
"I saw [Lynskey's 1994 film] Heavenly Creatures in the Angelika movie theatre when it was released in New York City. I saw [Morrison's 1994 film] Once Were Warriors in the same theatre. And Taika? Hmm, I can't remember. Who cares about that one."
Pascal and Waititi indeed have a boisterous relationship with each other since working together on The Mandalorian, with a YouTube clip describing them as "a chaotic duo" racking up over 750,000 views.
As the first season of The Last of Us comes to an end, season three of The Mandalorian has just launched. Pascal said it is "amazing" to be back on our screens in the Beskar armour, promising the new season includes "a lot of epic visual battles".
"There's so much more world-building in store for season three and a lot more Mandalorians," he said.
"I'm particularly excited for the character of Bo-Katan and what Katee Sackhoff has been doing with the character since its origins with The Clone Wars then stepping into the live-action version. Getting to see her step into the centre - I'm excited for everybody to see that."
The Mandalorian is streaming on Disney Plus while The Last of Us is available via Neon in New Zealand.
