One of the grooms from the first season of Three's Married at First Sight New Zealand has died.
Andrew Jury, 33, who was a builder in Auckland, took part in the Kiwi premiere of the popular show in 2017 when he was 26 years old.
His fellow former contestant Benjamin Blackwell announced his death on Instagram in a joint statement.
"It's with the heaviest hearts we've come together to acknowledge the passing of Andrew Jury. We had the absolute pleasure of filming and participating in a show which leaves us intricately linked for a life time" the statement read.
"Despite his struggles, Andrew was always friendly and the life of the party during our shared experience and he really valued his time on the show."
The statement was signed off by "myself, Angel, Brett, Vicky, Haydn, Lacey, Claire, Dom, Aaron, Luke, Belinda", who send their condolences to Jury's family.
Married at First Sight involves "experts" who match up five pairs of strangers, who then get married. The development of their relationships is then filmed for a month.
On the show, Jury described himself as outgoing and charming.
He was paired with contestant Vicky Gleeson-Stokes, but the pair didn't make it to the end. Jury later said they were complete opposites.
In 2018, he warned other Kiwis not to go on the show because they'll get "messed up".
