A Kiwi woman recorded footage at Jerry Seinfeld's show in Ōtautahi/Christchurch on Wednesday night as it was interrupted by pro-Palestine hecklers.
The incident occurred after several of the comedian's recent shows in other countries were also disrupted by protesters.
Chloe Jamieson said she paid about $130 for the ticket to Seinfeld's second show in Aotearoa, which followed his first on Monday at Spark Arena in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland.
Jamieson told Newshub when she arrived at Wolfbrook Arena, there were about 20 pro-Palestine protesters outside, chanting and holding signs with various imagery including photos of killed children in Gaza.
Inside the venue, about 10 minutes into Seinfeld's performance, Jamieson said a person in the "expensive" section began heckling the pro-Israel comedian.
"There was one shouting and saying 'you're supporting murderers' and things like that, and then all of a sudden, they were just gone. I'm guessing security just swept them away quickly," she said.
Another person then got up to heckle Seinfeld, but security guards were fast.
"They were about to speak but they were immediately hushed by security," said Jamieson.
In the video Jamieson shared with Newshub, Seinfeld can be seen responding to the hecklers: "You've got it all figured out!"
"I have been talking to a lot of people in media and they keep asking me, 'what are the opinions of people in Christchurch?' They want to know," he said.
"This is where public opinion is really shaped all over the globe. Nobody thinks anything in New York, or London or Paris - they ask 'but what are they thinking in Christchurch?'
"Thank you for giving me though, I don't know why you did. That guy just gave me a lot of money."
Jamieson said she "felt bad" because the hecklers were booed.
"I feel like the protesters are right, they should be able to express how they're feeling. It's just crazy what's going on [in Gaza]," she said.
Jamieson told Newshub she doesn't support Seinfeld's political views and felt better about attending his show when she saw people protesting the war there.
Seinfeld continues to be a vocal supporter of Israel amid its ongoing military actions on Palestinians. He made headlines in recent weeks over comments about anti-war protesters and political correctness.
In April, he was criticised for complaining about the "extreme left and PC crap" causing "the end" of comedy, suggesting in an interview that a perceived lack of modern comedic TV shows is due to the industry trying not to offend.
Seinfeld also travelled to Israel in December and met families of some of the hostages taken on October 7.
In 2018, photos emerged of Seinfeld posing with automatic weapons at the controversial Caliber 3 military complex in Israel, which has been criticised as a "fantasy camp that simulates shooting Palestinians".
One of the photos of Seinfeld at Caliber 3 was emblazoned on the sign of a protestor outside his Christchurch show.
Jamieson claimed that tickets for the Christchurch show recently dropped in price.
"His lowest tickets were over $100. But yesterday those tickets dropped down to $50," she said.
"I felt he almost didn't want to be there anyway. When he came out, he said 'comedians like me don't cancel'."
