Monday marked the first episode of AM's final week on-air, with the morning show coming to an end on Friday along with the rest of Newshub.
To discuss the end of an era, AM host Lloyd Burr welcomed back former Three/TV3 morning show hosts Carly Flynn, Paul Henry and Oliver Driver, who offered their words of wisdom to the current hosts and the wider media industry, which has seen hundreds of jobs axed this year.
"Don't wallow," said Flynn.
"You've had a great time, you've got great friends, made great memories. Don't take it personally, there's life outside media. Everybody loves you and there will be another season. I wallowed for too long."
"There's some great things about not doing it anymore," said Driver. "You get to wake up late, you don't have to wear suits anymore, you can grow your hair really long."
Flynn added she and the Sunrise team were "so privileged" to have done the show, saying she reflects on the period as the "golden years" of her career.
Henry, on the other hand, said he "not even remotely" misses hosting a morning TV show and repeated his recent statement that AM and Newshub should have been shut down years ago.
"Life is changing and I don't know why the people who run outfits fail to see it," said Henry. "Did we expect everything to remain the same, but we can look up and see rockets being launched every couple of weeks?
"Everything in life has changed so much, but we don't want our jobs to change."
