Facebook group 'Kmart Mums' rejoice: Another Kmart is opening in Auckland next year.
The country's largest mall, Sylvia Park, is the latest location to attract the retail giant.
According to a release from Kiwi Property, the 5000sqm store will occupy the space currently housing Countdown, down the southern end of the mall.
Kiwi Property general manager Linda Trainer says the newest store will be "an outstanding addition" to their line-up of shops when it opens in 2019.
"[Kmart has] proven time and again that they are prepared to listen to their customers and give them exciting new products and experiences, for the right price," she says.
"This is exactly the type of retailer we want at Sylvia Park."
This will be Kmart's seventh store in Auckland, and first to open in Auckland in more than 10 years. The other Auckland locations include Albany, Henderson, St Lukes, Manukau, Botany and Papatoetoe.
Sylvia Park is home to more than 200 retailers, including fashion giants H&M and Zara.
The mall is in the midst of a $223 million retail Galleria project, which will include 60 new retailers joining the mall. It's due for completion in 2020.
