An Irish man has been hospitalised after repeatedly injecting his own semen into his arm.
The 33-year-old bought a hypodermic needle off the internet and had spent the last 18 months injecting himself in an attempt to cure his lower back pain.

His case was published in the Irish Medical Journal, in a study titled ''Semenly' Harmless Back Pain: An Unusual Presentation of a Subcutaneous Abscess'.
After seeking medical attention for his back problems, doctors noticed his arm was red and swollen.
An examination showed he had a skin infection and an abscess had developed beneath his skin. Then the man revealed his bizarre home remedy.
"The patient disclosed that he had intravenously injected his own semen as an innovative method to treat back pain," doctors wrote in the study.
"He had devised this 'cure' independent of any medical advice."
The man was treated with an intravenous antimicrobial drip, but left hospital before the "local collection" could be drained.
