A US woman has shared an embarrassing faux pas she committed during a hilarious text exchange with her mother.
Singer and songwriter Ella Martine only wanted to share images of her newly decorated bedroom, but her eagle-eyed mum spotted one inappropriate detail amongst the new linen and hanging pot plant.
"Nice!" her mother responded. "Except for the handcuffs?? What's up with that?"
"Mom's been asking for pics of my new room…[I] finally sent one. I'm so stupid," Martine captioned the screenshots on Twitter, including a zoomed-in shot of a pair of handcuffs fastened to the wooden slats of her headboard.
The mortifying text exchange has racked up over 20,000 shares and 100,000 likes.
With people clamouring for more, Martine then included a screenshot of the ensuing conversation with her mother in which she tried to plead innocence and blame them on her roommate.
"[They were ] for Jordan's short film. He filmed here over the summer," Martine wrote, to which her mother replied, "well remove them - super tacky".
Luckily even though Martine probably won't be able to look her mother in the eye for a while, the internet saw the funny side.
"Sounds like we have an under covers cop in our midst," one person joked.
"Gotta prevent sleepwalking somehow," another pointed out.
Others compared it to the very inappropriate photo a man accidentally sent his mother of his girlfriend back in 2017.
