If you've ever flown from Auckland to Christchurch, you've probably seen at least one passenger carrying a giant box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts into the plane. Previously like gold dust in the 03, now Cantabrians can get them in their own backyard,
Krispy Kreme announced on Monday they're bringing the sweet treats down south, with the opening of a pop-up store at Westfield Riccarton.
Open for just two weeks starting Saturday, September 28, the pop-up will kick off opening day with 1000 free Original Glazed doughnuts to be given away.
Currently only available in the upper North Island, the Christchurch pop-up will herald the start of Krispy Kreme’s nationwide rollout through BP's across the country.
"It's long been our desire to bring smiles to as many Kiwis as possible by giving them the chance to enjoy a fresh Krispy Kreme doughnut," says Antonio Rivera, New Zealand retail manager.
"Whether you're a big fan of the Original Glazed or prefer yours with a few more sprinkles, the pop- up store will ensure that Christchurch doughnut fans will be the first in the South Island to buy Krispy Kreme locally."
New Zealand's first Krispy Kreme opened in Manukau, Auckland in February, 2018.
Since then Krispy Kreme has opened further retail outlets in Chancery Square, Auckland and Auckland Airport's Domestic Terminal.
