Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have made a purchase labelled "peculiar", and it has a price tag of NZ$23.5 million.
It's reported the former first couple has purchased a multi-million dollar mansion on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.
The Obamas reportedly rented the house recently, but are expected to seal a more permanent deal for the property this month.
But the purchase has been labelled "peculiar" by some with realtor.com senior editor Natalie Way saying the "vibe is contemporary - and a little cold".
"An inside look at the home reveals that it's time for a decor update," she said.
"A stark white colour palette dominates the interiors, which lacks any real personality."
She goes on to describe the property as a "fixer-upper".
"That's not to say this massive seaside property isn't stunning."
The mansion's claim to fame is its seller is Wyc Grousbeck, co-owner of NBA basketball team the Boston Celtics, Forbes reports.
Also residing in the area are celebrities such as Spike Lee, Amy Schumer and David Letterman, reports realtor.com.
