There has been a huge resurgence in Ta Moko - or Māori tattoos over the past few decades.
Celebrities like Robbie Williams, Mike Tyson and Rihanna are covered in Māori ink, which has often seen controversy from many who believe it's traditionally for Māori only.
Ta Moko artist Mokonuiarangi Smith is showcasing his work which is currently on display at the Moonlight exhibition in Auckland.
He spoke to The AM Show.
