The COVID-19 alert level 4 lockdown has us all DIY-ing projects we might have otherwise left to the professionals: painting our own nails, cutting our partner's hair and whipping up at-home fast food.
As pet-owners know, one unpleasant task usually kept for the vet is clipping your dog's toenails. The process can be tricky, especially if your pup is a big flincher.
But one US nurse has come up with a genius way of keeping your dog distracted while you quickly clip their nails, perfect for when you're staying at home during lockdown.
Linds Shelton posted a video on TikTok earlier this month which begins with her wrapping cling wrap around her hair, before smearing it with peanut butter.
"What are you doing?" her partner can be heard questioning in the background. "You look like a dork."
"I'm about to look like a genius," Shelton replies.
She then shows how by sitting in front of her dog to cut his nails, he's successfully distracted by the peanut butter on her forehead, and doesn't even notice she's doing it.
Shelton clarified the peanut butter didn't have Xylitol in it, an artificial sweetener that can be deadly for dogs.
Her helpful video has racked up over 2 million views and 5000 comments from impressed pet-owners saying they plan to try it with their own dogs.
"Sis is living in 3030," wrote one woman with several crown emojis.
"This is the best thing I've ever seen," wrote another
"Omg why did I just spend $107 at the groomer," lamented another.
"Run for President," someone else advised.
If you are planning to trim your doggo's nails at home, there are plenty of helpful step-by-step guides online, including this one from Harewood Vet Hospital in Christchurch.
