If all your time at home during lockdown has made you decide you're in desperate need of some new greenery to fill that empty space, you're in luck.
An Auckland interior plant design agency has a whole lot of plants they need to give to good homes.
High-end plant design company Outside In typically provides instalments and 'green walls' for events and businesses - you've probably seen their work in shopping malls and boutique co-working spaces.
But with businesses shut during lockdown, they have an excess of plants in their nursery, as well as instalments being returned
Creative director Ryan McQuerr told Stuff that usually his staff would take the extras home, but in this instance there are simply too many plants for that to happen.
"If they've come back we don't want to throw them away, we want them to go to a good home," he said.
"These plants are too big, we've got a bunch of new ones coming on that we need to make space for."
The company posted on Instagram on Wednesday that to combat the problem, they'll be "giving away a bunch of plants to plant lovers in Auckland".
"This Sunday we'll be posting all the details on when, where and how you can get your hands on a new plant baby to care for and brighten up your space," they captioned the post.
However the company was perhaps unprepared for Kiwis' love of plants. After an "overwhelming uptake" from over 6000 eager plant parents, they were forced "to adjust how the fulfillment of the giveaway works".
"We're so pumped that there are so many likeminded plant lovers out there!" the company captioned an update on Thursday.
"Our goal is to get as many plants as possible into your hands but we want to do so in a way that is safe under [COVID-19] alert level 2, avoiding any crowd-like situations.
"With that in mind, please do not turn up to our premises asking for plants - we're operating the giveaway in a structured way. From next week, we'll be giving away 100 plants a day, until we run out."
The company revealed that they'll be releasing an Instagram post each weekday at 8am next week, with the first 50 respondents able to collect two plants that day - "one for them and one for a friend".
"We are so looking forward to getting our plants rehomed and helping you bring the outside in."
Newshub recommends that if you are chasing down some new greenery for your home, you choose plants appropriate for the size of your house, unlike the wife of this unimpressed parenting blogger.
