If you're struggling to come up with an easy dinner idea, this might just be the recipe for you. One Aussie mother's "life-changing" budget pasta recipe has gone viral and is making headlines with several international media outlets.
The easy recipe is a favourite of home cook Erin, who posted on Facebook it's her favourite meal, is a weekly "staple" for her and her husband and costs less than $10 to whip together.
"This takes less than 15 minutes to make and it's not too heavy," she wrote in a budget cooking Facebook group.
"It's a bit spicy [due to] the chorizo and olives. Other brands of chorizo are not spicy, so you can try those and a plain olive if you’re not a fan of chili."
While you can't see the recipe unless you're in the group, luckily for all of us the Daily Mail reprinted it - and most of the ingredients you'll probably already have on hand.
All you'll need is some spaghetti, cheese, olives, onion, chorizo, butter and garlic.
INGREDIENTS:
- Pasta
- Chorizo x 2
- 1/2 a tub of split green olives
- Finely grated garlic
- One large onion, grated
- Flat leaf parsley
- Parmesan
- Butter
METHOD:
- Cook the pasta.
- Fry off the chorizo, then add onion and garlic to the frying pan. Brown it off. Add a small bit of butter.
- Add more butter if needed, season and serve with Parmesan.
It's not the first time a home-cook's pasta recipe has hit headlines. Earlier this year another Australian mum kick started an online debate with her Vegemite pasta recipe.
