Resene consultant Murdo Shaw speaks to Magic Talk radio host Roman Travers and says the first thing you need to do when painting the exterior of your home is to prepare the area.
This can be done by firstly scraping back any old layers of paint from your weatherboards, then sanding them down so they’re smooth before putting on a good primer.
Once all the preparation is done, Murdo says a good paint to use for your top coat is Resene’s Lumbersider - an acrylic resin with low sheen that will ensure your paint is durable in all weather conditions.
Murdo also says that ‘’preparation is the key’’ when it comes to having a good, smooth exterior paint finish.
