Fashionistas get ready: New Zealand Fashion Week is set to return to our shores for its 20th year after being cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organisers announced on Wednesday the trendiest week of the year will return with a packed schedule running between Monday, August 23 and Sunday, August 29.
And if you've always watched the lines of A-listers file into tents from a distance, this year you can get involved.
Returning to Aotea Square and the Auckland Town Hall, the traditionally trade-only show will be open to consumers for the very first time.
To give fashion lovers a chance to experience New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) alongside industry and designer guests, a limited number of tickets will be available for selected shows including Kate Sylvester, Kathryn Wilson, Hailwood and Zambesi as well as the 20-year Retrospective Show.
A fan zone will also be set up in Aotea Square where the public can view some shows on a big screen.
Dame Pieter Stewart, NZFW founder and managing director, says there's "no other event in New Zealand that brings our industry together in the way NZFW does".
"Nor is there an event which provides a platform for designers, make-up artists, stylists, photographers and models to showcase their unique skills and talents to the world," she added.
"We should not underestimate the power that NZFW has to influence, promote and celebrate New Zealanders."
After the international cancelling of fashion shows and events last year amid COVID-19, both London and Paris Fashion Weeks went online with digital shows.
