With international travel still off the cards for a while yet, hungry Kiwis in search of an internationally acclaimed restaurant experience don't have to worry about going far.
Two of Auckland's best restaurants have been named in Tripadvisors 2021 Travellers' Choice "Best of the Best" Restaurants list, awarded based on traveller reviews and ratings.
Coming in at number one in New Zealand and 15 worldwide, fine dining restaurant The Grove in St Patricks Square has played host to some of New Zealand's top chefs since first opening in 2004.
Some feedback noted in its spot on the list included "exquisite" and "a real taste of both fine dining and top service".
It's not the first time The Grove has been featured on the acclaimed list, coming in at number nine back in 2018.
Also included this year is seafood-focused restaurant Sails at Westhaven Marina, which was ranked second in New Zealand and 20th in the world.
Known mostly for its 'crayfish special' which has been around for 15years, Sails is a city stalwart thanks to its views out over the water.
TripAdvisor feedback noted in the awards list included "an easy choice" and "delicious food and what a view!"
Coming in at number one overall on the international list is The Old Stamp House Restaurant in Ambleside, UK, which was followed in second place by Restaurant La Maison d'a Cote in Montlivault, France.
Regional awards were also handed out for the best spots to grab 'Everyday Eats' which "won't break the bank". Around New Zealand those included Gramados in Blenheim, Blue Kanu in Queenstown and Oh Culcutta in Auckland.
