Resene consultant Murdo Shaw told Magic Talk radio hosts Stan Scott and Carly Flynn the difference between essential tools and nice to have accessories.
"The essentials when you’re painting are brushes, rollers, an extension pole and a good roller tray," Murdo said.
"You don’t need a lot of gear, stick to the essentials and buy quality."
Murdo suggests using a brush comb when cleaning and removing paint from a brush. He said if you look after them, they will last for years.
