A US doctor with millions of followers on social media is moving to New Zealand after accepting a job in Invercargill.
Danielle Jones, known for her medical YouTube channel 'Mama Dr Jones', is an obstetrician-gynecologist who has candid discussions about reproduction and sex across her social media platforms.
She's got a job at Southland Hospital and is in the process of applying for visas, the NZ Herald reported.
"Guess it's time to formally announce our plans for the rest of the year… we're (finally) moving to New Zealand!" she said in a Twitter post on Sunday (NZ time).
In an earlier social media post, she said it was unclear when she, her husband and four children would be able to make the move.
"International medical licenses and visas are a wild process and with the pandemic, everything is even less predictable," she wrote on Instagram.
"We're thrilled to get to live in our favorite place on Earth for a while and I'm excited to see how a totally different healthcare (and specifically maternity care) system works!"
Dr Jones said in an interview with the Herald they can apply for managed isolation spots after the visa application process - and hopes to be in New Zealand by the end of 2021.
"We've run into some red tape with pandemic regulations and everything moving slow so I'm not sure if it'll be October or November now. Hopefully this year."
