A 'healthy' ketchup hack going viral on TikTok has outraged social media users who have dubbed it "criminal".
TikTok user @di1lward, known for their satirical food content, shared a video of them adding a squirt of Heinz ketchup to a ramekin before topping it up with water, declaring the concoction "double the health for half the price".
"Ketchup contains tons of sugar and lots of red dyes," they say.
"So I always put water in mine, so you get double the health for half the price."
"Tell me I'm not the only one who does this?! I save $40 a year using this hack," they captioned the video.
UK-based parody content maker @sensationalfoodie took the TikTok sound and ran with it, creating her own video showing her swirling some McDonald's fries around in the watery sauce before digging in.
Her video has been viewed nearly 145,000 times and drawn condemnation from commenters, despite being a joke.
"Woman, you have created a new type of sin," said one TikTok user.
"Yo, I am calling the police," added another.
"I want to throw up now, please don't do this," said another.
"Although I know it's a joke, this hurt me," added another.
It's not the first viral TikTok food video to turn stomachs online. Earlier this year, a New Zealander upset viewers by mixing fish and chips with porridge.
