A Wellington bar is being flooded with praise for their "cost of living burger" which will also help a local City Mission.
The Welsh Dragon Bar on Cambridge Terrace just off Courtenay Place will be rolling out the burger throughout August.
The burger will be priced at $9.76, which is exactly how much it costs to make, so the bar won't make any profit from it.
The Welsh Dragon Bar will also be encouraging customers to give a voluntary tip on top of the price of the burger that will go towards the Wellington City Mission.
"As a small, independent business we are very aware of the rising costs of living in NZ, and how many people are doing it tough," the bar wrote on their Facebook page.
"We're incredibly excited to produce a good quality burger at a transparent, honest price, and to help raise awareness of the rising cost of just getting by.
"We especially appreciate the voluntary contributions we will collect and hand over to our friends at the City Mission who do an amazing job at giving a helping hand to those who need it the most."
The bar said they'll not take part in Wellington on a Plate this year, which runs throughout August each year.
"We do love the wonderful celebration of burgers each August in Wellington though, and so we've decided to do something a bit different," the bar said.
So they came up with the "cost of living burger," which is a beef patty with a Welsh rarebit sauce served on a toasted Brioche bun with fresh lettuce and red onion.
The bar has received an outpouring of praise on social media, with one person saying "Now that's a mission I can get behind".
Another person said in response to the post on Facebook: "Just when I thought I couldn’t love you more, you go and do something wonderful like this! What a fabulous bunch you are".
"What a fantastic and selfless initiative. Paying it forward never gets old, I wish I liked burgers-if I did I’d definitely be there!" another person said.
Another person commented saying: Great cause to donate to and I love that rarebit sauce on a burger continues to be a thing."
