Jason Momoa has offered fans a glimpse of his new head tattoo.

Earlier this month, the Aquaman actor, who was born in Hawaii, shaved the sides of his head and some of his signature long locks in an effort to draw attention to environmental causes.

On Wednesday, Momoa returned to his Instagram Stories to unveil a tribal design on the left side of his head, just before he was about to board a Hawaiian Airlines flight to New Zealand.

"Here we go @hawaiianairlines is back we're going to New Zealand HAWAII TO AOTEROA [sic]," he wrote in the caption.

Momoa also credited Sulu'ape Keone Nunes, an expert in traditional Hawaiian tattoo, for his new body art.

"Mahalo to my OHANA for being there for me yesterday @suluape_keone it was a true honour 20 years in the making," the 43-year-old continued.

In response, Sulu'ape shared his own message detailing the experience of tattooing the Game of Thrones star.

"Great to be among people who have known me since I was a child. Sometimes you have to wait for the right time to get what is right for you. I have known Jason's father Joe since high school and started talking to Jason over 20 years ago on doing work on him. With family and friends to support him, yesterday was the first step in his journey," he wrote.

Momoa was travelling to New Zealand to begin production on his new Apple TV+ series, Chief of War.
