As a big fan of Baileys, I'm making a public service announcement that the beloved Irish cream liqueur is launching a new addition to its lineup - a flavour that might just bottle the taste of Kiwi summer.

Baileys, a liqueur made with Irish whiskey, cream and cocoa, is introducing a limited-edition Summer Berry Pavlova variety to its repertoire, which will (hopefully!) be available in Aotearoa in the not-too-distant future.

For the uninitiated, pavlova is a meringue-based dessert that originated in Australasia (but let's be real, it was obviously New Zealand), featuring a crispy crust and soft, light centre. Typically paired with lashings of whipped cream and fresh fruit, the humble pav has long been a Kiwi Christmas classic, as well as a traditional summer staple.

According to Baileys, the festive flavour is set to "indulge your palate" with "creamy meringue" and the "tart yet delicious taste of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries".

Baileys recommends enjoying the new addition over ice or in a creamy cocktail comprising 50ml of the liqueur, 25ml of vodka and 50ml of milk, served with strawberry sauce, store-bought meringue and fresh berries. Um, YUM!

The Irish Cream connoisseurs have launched a string of twists on the tasty classic over the years, bringing out a popular Strawberries and Cream variety as well as Apple Pie, Salted Caramel, Red Velvet Cupcake and Espresso Creme.

According to the Daily Mail, a cocktail has already been created in honour of the new festive flavour at Sydney's Hyde Hacienda Bar.

And Baileys Summer Berry Pavlova is going down a treat across the ditch, where it's already available. Many enthusiasts have been singing its praises on social media, with several branding the tipple as "delicious".

However, not everyone appears to be a fan. Some have expressed their disappointment with the new addition, calling it "way too sweet".

While it's not yet clear when Baileys will be bringing its Kiwi-inspired classic to Aotearoa, I for one will be keeping a keen eye on the shelves.
