With summer on the way, many Kiwis are craving the salty smell of the sea and sound of the waves lapping on the beach.
But while we may think of the beach as a prime spot for some rest and relaxation, many of us have been subjected to bad beach behaviour.
Kiwis have taken to social media to reveal their pet peeves when it comes to on-the-beach etiquette.
Cigarettes, yapping dogs, music, vehicles, littering and even overpowering perfume are just some of the grievances making a splash on social media.
It comes as Newshub National Correspondent Partick Gower, who is filling in as AM co-host this week, said portable speakers should be banned from beaches.
"Look, if I was in power - which I'm not yet - I would ban sound systems from every beach," Gower said on AM. "I include lakes in that actually, not just the coastline."
Gower said he'd also go as far as banning phones from the beach altogether and putting a "Bluetooth jammer" in place.
He is not alone, with many people agreeing that UE Booms have no place on our sandy shores.
"I go to the beach to enjoy listening to the waves and nature. Not to listen to your s***y music. What a vibe killer," one person commented on Reddit.
Some Kiwis went even further, calling for speakers to be banned in public.
"I don't want to have to endure anyone's s**t taste in music, or them mine, when taking a stroll in the park or when riding the bus," one said.
However, some said it largely depends on the level of volume and the beach in question; while major beaches are typically crowded and noisy, at smaller, more secluded beaches there is a reasonable expectation of serenity.
"There is a huge difference between playing music at a reasonable volume so it doesn't bother other beachgoers, and blasting your s**t so loud that it beaches whales."
What also seems to get Kiwis riled up is dogs.
While some beaches only allow dogs if they remain on the lead, some of our furry friends' habits are enough to get Kiwis whinging.
"No one appreciates your dog pissing on the beach or in the park. Don't take them there," one person tweeted.
Jet skis - or as one person called them, "water bogans" - also made the list and interestingly, another Kiwi argued that taking your shirt off should be banned.
"Jet skis, yappy dogs, kids that cry, people talking too loud, eating, surfing to close to the beach, taking your shirt off. All should be banned," they said.
While nobody wants to pick up other people's trash and loud music can be annoying, maybe we should just ban fun while we're at it.
