Kourtney Kardashian fans shocked by 'crazy' difference between Travis Barker and Scott Disick's reactions to her gaining weight

Fans of the Kardashian clan may remember Scott Disick once telling former partner Kourtney Kardashian to lose weight - three months after birthing his child - because she was, in his words, his "piece of machinery". If that isn't a reflection of attitudes towards women's bodies 10 years ago, I don't know what is.

But times have changed and thankfully, so has Kardashian's partner, with new husband Travis Barker being applauded online for his unwavering support of his wife and her recent weight gain due to the impact of attempting in vitro fertilisation

In a recent episode of The Kardashians, the 43-year-old mother-of-three candidly spoke about the toll IVF treatment has taken on her body as she and rockstar beau Barker, 46, try to conceive.

"Obviously my body's changed. It was all of the hormones that the doctors put me on," she said in a confessional.

"Eight months of IVF treatment has definitely taken a toll on my body mentally and physically, and I think it's taken a lot to get me to the place of feeling really comfortable and happy with the changes."

But the diminutive reality TV star acknowledged that Barker's steadfast support has helped her to "embrace the changes", admitting she's now "so into" her new body.

"Every day, Travis is like, 'You're perfect'. If I make one complaint, he's like, 'You're perfect. You're so fine... You've never been better'," she said. "And now I'm so into it.

"Having a partner who's so supportive of me and always complimenting me no matter what, it's just helped me to really embrace the changes - and actually to the point where I love the changes now."

Following the episode's premiere on Hulu last week, a number of fans have taken to social media to share their happiness for the eldest Kardashian daughter, who appears to be blissfully in love with Barker, the drummer for punk-rock outfit Blink-182 and her husband of five months.

Many have also praised the mum-of-three's "refreshing" outlook on her recent weight gain, applauding her authenticity and candid comments about the changes she's experienced.

"That whole scene was so refreshing!" one wrote on Reddit. "I really feel like she was speaking her truth and genuinely loves her curvier body vs feeding us a forced 'bOdY PoSiTiViTy' narrative."

"When Kourtney Kardashian Barker was talking about how her partner helped her feel better about her weight gain as well as accepting/falling in love with herself >>>> we all deserve that," a second tweeted.

"Our 40s is when we finally see our sexiness, she looks absolutely gorgeous!" one wrote on Instagram. "She looks amazing," echoed another.

Having documented their lives since 2007, it's not uncommon for old clips of the Kardashians to resurface on social media - and not all of them paint such a flattering picture of the famous family and their cohort of friends and associate

For many long-time followers of the family, Kardashian's candid admission served as a stark reminder of how her ex, Scott Disick, addressed her post-pregnancy weight gain in the past, prompting many to recall several telling moments on the show. Several took the opportunity to compare Disick's treatment of Kardashian to Barker's, noting that her former flame's insensitive approach was a far cry from her current 'fairytale' romance.

For example, as per BuzzFeed News, users on Reddit have recalled the time Disick urged Kardashian to lose weight just three months after giving birth to their second child, Penelope.

"Last time, you definitely tried to watch what you were eating after you had Mason," Scott told Kourtney during a 2013 episode of Kourtney and Kim Take Miami. Mason, their first child, was three at the time.

"Yeah, last time around I went overboard," she replied, to which Disick scoffed, "At least you were losing weight."

Clearly annoyed, Kardashian told Scott he was "so crazy" before explaining she was trying to lose weight "the healthy way".

But Disick responded: "Do it the healthy way, just do it faster."

When she asked why he cared so much about her weight, he said: "Why wouldn't I? You're my piece of machinery." The exchange reduced Kardashian to tears.

Disick, who faced intense backlash after the episode was aired, later addressed his comments in a tweet which read: "Never realised how upset people get when a person makes a comment about weight. PS: anyone who has to much to say probably had to much to eat. #fatasses [sic]."

One Redditor used the past exchange to highlight the "crazy" difference between Disick and Barker's responses to Kardashian's weight gain.

"Not that I think Travis is completely unproblematic, but the juxtaposition of his comments to Kourtney gaining some weight vs Scott's is crazy," they wrote.

Seemingly referring to her former flame in last week's episode of The Kardashians, Kardashian told the cameras: "When I was super skinny, [it was] a time that I was super anxious.

"Not about eating, not about staying at a certain weight, but just in toxic relationships."

Kardashian and Disick eventually called time on their rocky relationship in 2015 after dating on and off for about a decade. They are parents to Mason Dash, 12, Penelope Scotland, 10, and Reign Aston, seven.
