Cannabis connoisseurs will be rolling up in celebration as UberEats launches a new 'marijuana menu' that, for the first time ever, allows patrons to have their score delivered directly to their door.
Kiwis, calm down - the service is currently only offered in Toronto, the capital of the Canadian province Ontario.
According to the government of Ontario's current legislation, people must be aged 19 and older to buy, use, possess and grow recreational cannabis in the province, the same as the minimum age for the sale of tobacco and alcohol.
The new 'marijuana menu', which is exclusively available to Toronto residents, has appeared on the app following a partnership between UberEats and the online cannabis marketplace, Leafly.
The menu includes a host of products, including chocolates and candies laced with THC - the psychoactive compound in marijuana - as well as vape cartridges.
As per the Daily Mail, the delivery giant said it was providing a "safe, convenient" and legal way for Toronto-based customers to get their hands on hemp products that circumvents the black market.
A spokesperson for UberEats told the Daily Mail there are currently no plans to break into the US market, where the recreational use of cannabis has been legalised in 19 states.
Under the new initiative, the products will be delivered by the seller rather than an UberEats employee. As per reports, customers will need to prove they are sober and at least 19 years of age when the shop assistant arrives at their door.
It marks the first time a 'third party' has been able to sell cannabis products in Canada. Previously, authorities in Ontario had allowed products to be delivered, but only when they were ordered directly from the seller.
Shops that are now selling on UberEats include Hidden Leaf Cannabis, Minerva Cannabis and Shivaa's Rose.
