US restaurant chain Hooters, known for waitresses in short shorts and tight tops, will open its second branch in the UK next week - at New Zealand House in Liverpool.
At Hooters, waitresses the company calls "Hooters Girls" serve spicy chicken wings, sandwiches, seafood and drinks.
"Our 'grand opening' is 21/11/22 and our venue is at the iconic New Zealand House, Water St, Liverpool. Hoo is coming? Hoot Hoot," a post on the chain's Instagram page said.
The New Zealand House version of Hooters was expected to mimic most of the chain's other 420 restaurants in nearly 30 countries.
New Zealand House, however, doesn't appear to have a direct connection to Aotearoa. The building - originally an office structure - was designed by prominent Liverpool architect Walter Aubrey Thomas and completed in 1893.
While the name's origins were unclear, Liverpool's Water St - where New Zealand House is located - was earlier known as Bank St and had a long history of business and trade.
In the past couple of decades, the venue has been home to multiple failed hospitality venues, according to Liverpool Echo.
The opening of Hooters in Liverpool has attracted controversy, with the local Mayor describing the chain as "an infamous sexually objectifying and misogynistic environment".
Britain boasts one other Hooters restaurant in the city of Nottingham, which opened in the late 1990s.
