A wheelchair user has gone viral on TikTok after he shared a puzzling question a stranger had asked him.
In September, 22-year-old Jimmy Jan shared a TikTok that outlined the weirdest question he had ever been asked.
In the video, he said he was used to the usual "annoying" questions like, "Why are you in a wheelchair?" or "What happened to your legs?"
However, a question he received recently really "threw" him, he said.
In the video, Jan explained how he had gone down to the lobby of his apartment and leaned on a couch to stretch out his back while he waited for an Uber.
He said he had been relaxing on the couch when two older women came up to him and one said, "Is that just so comfortable for you?"
After Jan told the lady the position was really comfortable for him, he claimed that she proceeded to ask him, "Do you really need a wheelchair?"
The 22-year-old, who was paralysed after a skiing accident in 2021, said he was shocked by the nature of the question.
"I can't imagine being an able-bodied person and looking at a person with a disability or a mobility aid and asking them if they really needed their wheelchair or their walking stick."
Jan added that the woman asked him again if he really needed it, to which he responded, "Yes, I do."
The woman then looked at him and asked him why, he claimed.
After he told her his legs were paralysed, she didn't ask any follow-up questions but instead took a photo of him.
"Let me take a photo of this, there's a man at my work and he's wheelchair-bound, I am going to show him this," Jan recounted.
The 22-year-old said after the woman took the photo, the elevator doors opened and he was able to escape the conversation.
The TikTok currently has 3.4 million views and over 520,000 likes.
