A woman has been blasted on TikTok after cutting her daughter's pyjamas up.

The woman who goes by the username @mckenzietaylor34 shared a video on TikTok of her daughter sleeping then panned to a toy elf with scissors in its hands, to make it look like the elf was the culprit.

The UK mother cut up her child's pyjamas as a part of the 'Elf on the Shelf' tradition, where parents prank their children leading up to Christmas and blame it on the toy elves.

Many people thought the TikTok user went overboard with the prank and commented their disapproval.

"She's going to hate Christmas from now on," one user commented.

Another user commented: "Some of these go too far, you cut her clothing that's wrong for so many reasons, but also it's freezing and this girl has now got holes in her pj's."

A third person commented: "Elf on the shelf was created for parents to bully their kids."

The TikTok user has shared a variety of other pranks the elf has played on her daughter, including one where her advent calendar chocolate was eaten and the elf draped the lounge in toilet paper.

Although many users were upset about the mother cutting up her daughter's pyjamas, several people thought the prank was hilarious.

One person commented: "Brilliant! Loved the last video. I hope she gets new pj's from Father Christmas."

"Please keep making more of these! Omg I can't stop laughing at her reactions," another person said.

A third said: "Oh bless her I can't help but laugh."

The video has been viewed 3.5 million times and has over 350,000 likes.
