Kate Hudson has shared some insight into the realities of co-parenting three children with three different fathers, calling their modern family "a seriously strong unit".

The Almost Famous star, 43 - the daughter of iconic actress Goldie Hawn - shares 18-year-old son Ryder with ex-husband and The Black Crowes frontman, Chris Robinson. She also has an 11-year-old, Bingham, with ex-fiancé and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, and shares her youngest, four-year-old Rani Rose, with her current fiancé, musician Danny Fujikawa.

"It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside, I feel like we're killing it," Kate told the Sunday Times in a recent interview.

"The unit I've created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it's ours."

The Bride Wars star also addressed her relationships with her ex-partners, saying she and Robinson - whom she was married to from 2000 to 2007 - "just need to check in once in a while". However, she praised Bellamy as "so wonderful", adding that she "couldn't have asked for a better co-parent".

As for her current partner Fujikawa, Hudson lauded him as "a wonderful dad and stepdad".

"For me it's like, you loved this person. That doesn't just go away, but you can re-establish a different kind of love," she continued. "You can have an amazing time with an ex-partner because you're really only focused on the love of your child."

In the past, Hudson has been candid about the importance of co-parenting her children with her ex-partners, citing her and her brother's estrangement from their biological father, musician and actor Bill Hudson.

"I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life," she said in 2021.

"But it doesn't take away from the fact that we didn't know our dad."

Aside from her acting career and raising her three children, Hudson is the co-founder of the popular fitness brand Fabletics, and has penned two books.
