From pavlovas to red pepper salmon, we've all seen the culinary wonders an air fryer can create - and we've all been subjected to air fryer enthusiasts banging on about how amazing they are for the past few years.
But when simple and saliva-inducing recipes such as these five-minute s'mores crop up, I too feel thankful to have an air fryer in my kitchen appliance arsenal.
The next time your sweet-tooth kicks into overdrive, content creator and English mum-of-two Hayley Dean - who goes by the username @hayleys.worldx on TikTok - has the treat for you.
A cornerstone of camping culture, you've probably seen s'mores in corny American rom-coms or series with the canned laughter in the background. The popular treat comprises a toasted marshmallow and chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers: a sweet, flavoured cracker that is another United States' pantry staple. The Kiwi equivalent? Digestive biccies, which Hayley conveniently uses in her recipe.
In a TikTok that has since been viewed more than 1.9 million times, Hayley first places a marshmallow on top of a digestive biscuit - in the clip, she makes two. She then pops the marshmallow-topped biccies in the basket of her air fryer, which she has lined with baking paper. She leaves the goodies in for five minutes at 180C before adding a square of chocolate on top of each toasty marshmallow, then pops them back in for another minute to melt.
Hayley then removes the treats from the air fryer and adds another digestive biscuit on top of each, making little sandwiches of ooey-gooey deliciousness.
To demonstrate, Hayley then cracks the s'mores in half to show off the perfectly melted chocolate and squishy, softened marshmallow.
"Air fryer s'mores. Cook the marshmallow on the digestives first, on 180 for five mins, then add the chocolate to melt for one minute, then another digestive on top. Super easy sweet treat," she captioned the clip, which has been liked by 122,000 people at the time of writing.
It's safe to say the simple s'mores recipe - sans a campfire - has been a hit with viewers, many of whom took to the comments to share their excitement.
Others recommend using chocolate-coated digestives to up the deliciousness, with one declaring: "I always use chocolate digestives when camping. Game changer."
"You always need more chocolate," another agreed. It might go without saying, but remember to have the coated sides facing inwards so the chocolate doesn't melt onto the air fryer - or your hands.
"Oh my goodness gracious me! They look amazing, I will have to make these for my kids ASAP," another raved, while one lamented: "I'm trying to lose weight, this isn't fair!"
Hayley has built a loyal following online for her quick and easy air fryer recipes, amassing almost 270,000 followers on Instagram and over 70,000 on TikTok. She has recently released a cookbook, How to Make Anything in an Air Fryer.
In 2020, an Aussie mum went viral after sharing on Facebook how to whip up a pavlova in an air fryer in just 20 minutes.
