Kmart has announced the opening date of its second 24/7 Auckland store - trolleys at the ready, everyone.
The Manukau Supa Centa Store will join Sylvia Park as Aotearoa's second Kmart to operate 24/7, with doors slated to open on Thursday, April 20.
Set to become the largest Kmart in the country, the "new-look" store will boast a "refreshed layout" and a trading floor of nearly 5000sqm, a spokesperson for the retailer said on Wednesday.
As part of the upgraded layout, the store will feature wider aisles for easy wheelchair and pram access and bolder graphics for navigation.
The spokesperson confirmed Kmart Manukau's 100 existing staffers will be continuing their roles, with 60 new team members also being recruited.
The new-and-improved 24/7 outlet, marking Aotearoa's 26th Kmart, has been over a decade in the making, said manager Sharlene Goberdhan.
"The team is buzzing with excitement to finally have a brand-new store," she said in a statement.
Manukau Supa Centa centre manager Kerrie Hughes added: "We are pleased and excited to welcome a new-look, bigger Kmart which will trade 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
A new 40,000sqm distribution centre is also planned to open in Ruakura, Hamilton later this year to help keep the shelves stocked nationwide.
