A new bodysuit by Kmart that promises to dramatically slim down your shape is being hailed as a game-changer, with one shopper claiming she "dropped a dress size" by wearing the viral shapewear.
The retail giant's 'seamfree bodysuit', which retails for $17 in New Zealand, has been applauded by British content creator Ellie Young on TikTok, who showed off the results of the shapewear in a now viral video earlier this week.
In the clip, which has been viewed over 1.7 million times at the time of writing, Young demonstrated the power of the bodysuit by showing how much looser a pair of jeans were after being teamed with the Kmart buy.
"This is without the bodysuit," Young said, showing the ripped jeans sitting snugly around her waist. "Now these jeans I'm going to take off, just so you can see there's no magic, no disappearing act. I'm now going to put the bodysuit on - keeping these in frame to show they are the same jeans."
Young then puts on the Kmart bodysuit, with the same pair of jeans slung over her shoulder to prove she hadn't picked up a larger size.
"Now I'm going to put the same jeans back on," she said, hoisting the denim back on over the shapewear.
"You can see it's baggier there," she declared, turning around to show the visibly looser waistband. "I don't care what you say. Same jeans - I had to prove a point."
In a previous video, Young admitted she gave the bodysuit a go after seeing so many other women singing its praises on social media.
"I saw so many videos like this, so [I] had to try it! I am very surprised at the results - like whaaaaat?!" she added.
Many have sworn to pick up the affordable shapewear after seeing the results on Young, while other proud owners have declared the bodysuit makes "such a difference" - not only to the fit of their clothes, but to their confidence.
"Have two of these bodysuits and they are magic!" one viewer said, with a second adding: "I dropped a dress size when I tried mine on - made such a difference. Game changer."
"Took inches off in seconds. Can't buy enough of these bad boys," a third declared, with a fourth writing: "I second they work! Put mine on today for the first time! Jean shorts I couldn't do up, I can now do up."
A few others have noted that while the shapewear works a treat, it can be uncomfortable to wear, while a handful more reiterated that shoppers need to size down to get the best results.
At the time of writing, the seamfree bodysuit on Kmart New Zealand's website has a rating of 4.7 out of 5, based on 15 reviews. It's available in both black and tan and features adjustable straps, a snap-button closure, ribbed sides and elastic leg openings, as well as "firm support" for the bust and "butt-shaping" in the back.
In a review last month, one satisfied customer in Aotearoa hailed the item as a dupe for the seamless, sculpting bodysuit offered by Kim Kardashian's popular shapewear brand SKIMS, writing: "The best SKIMS dupe, lovvvvvvve it."
Alternatively, the SKIMS seamless bodysuit will set you back NZ$129.
