Despite spearheading a shapewear empire and a love for showing off her famous curves in skimpy, skin-flashing ensembles, Kim Kardashian, it seems, has insecurities about her body just like many of us mere mortals.
In what appeared to be a raw, vulnerable and very human moment, the mogul and mum-of-four candidly revealed that she prefers the lights off during sex to avoid being seen by her romantic partner.
The 42-year-old was at dinner with sister Kourtney's former partner Scott Disick when she made the admission, which appeared in the latest episode of the famous family's reality TV show The Kardashians.
In the clip, Disick, 40, noted that he hadn't seen Kardashian "out on any dates or anything" following the breakdown of her highly publicised, nine-month relationship with Pete Davidson last August. Prior to that, she was married to controversial artist Kanye West from 2014 to 2021.
In response, Kardashian said she "can't" enjoy casual dating due to her level of fame and the constant media and public scrutiny.
Disick then asked if she often resorts to having dates at her own private residence instead of in public places, to which Kardashian explained that with four young children, she and her date would still have to skulk around her home to avoid being caught.
"'Hurry, hurry, so no one in the hallway sees you'," she joked, pretending to usher a date inside.
"Here's the thing," she added. "If you are seen with someone, then if it's starting to not work out, you almost have to try to make it work a little longer because you're so embarrassed."
Elaborating in a confessional, she continued: "You obviously learn from every situation, and the one thing I learned from my last situation [with Davidson] was that the media made me feel like I was in a very serious relationship, so quickly.
"I just wanna sneak around a little bit," she added with a smile. "There's nothing wrong with wanting to sneak."
At the dinner table, Kardashian admitted to Disick that she doesn't want to date "one person" at this point in her life, implying that she wants to avoid committing to another serious relationship.
She then brought up a mystery man, nicknamed 'Fred', who she said she had recently been seeing in secret.
Later on during their meal, the pair began discussing age-gap relationships. When Karashian said she doesn't want to date anyone considerably older or younger, the conversation moved to the 40-year age-gap between former couple Cher and Alexander Edwards.
Noting she'd feel "insecure" if she were dating someone 40 years her junior, Disick quipped in response: "Maybe [Cher's] secure, or has the lights off."
"I pretty much have the lights off now," Kardashian hit back, prompting Disick to stare in obvious disbelief.
In a second confessional, a producer asked off-camera if Kardashian was a "lights-off kind of girl", to which she responded: "Kind of, yeah. It's so weird.
"I can walk out of a photoshoot with 100 people working on set in a thong... but if it's like you're there with me, I'm like, 'Wait, don't look at me. Turn the lights off!'"
The latest episode of The Kardashians is available to watch in New Zealand on Disney Plus.
