Have you ever wondered what it'd be like to spend a night in Shrek's swamp? Waking up to Donkey's waffles - maybe enjoying a mid-morning parfait (parfaits are delicious) - followed by an afternoon of exploring Shrek's many layers (no, not like that). You could even sit by the nice boulder and gaze upon the mud, moss and murky waters of the humble oasis.
Well, ogre (and onion) enthusiasts can do all that and more if they secure a special two-night escape at Shrek's swamp, which is coming to Airbnb this October. Just leave the torches and pitchforks at home, and don't worry about the 'Beware' signs - that's just Shrek's way of rolling out the welcome mat.
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Scottish Highlands, Shrek's Swamp is open to all manner of creatures from near and far, far away for a fairytale stay in a secluded, albeit muddy, slice of paradise under the stars.
The Scottish oasis features charmingly rustic interiors, the all-important outhouse and overgrown forestry to recreate the layered ogre way of life, Airbnb said, with activities across the exclusive stay including delicious parfaits, ambient 'earwax candles', a nighttime fire for swapping stories, and freshly made waffles in the morning.
Shrek superfans can request to book a free two-night swamp-scape for up to three guests from October 27-29. Booking will open at 6am NZT on October 14 but potential customers should know they are responsible for their own travel to and from Scotland.
The property itself is independently owned and operated by Ardverikie Estate, a 19th-century Scottish baronial house in Kinloch Laggan, Newtonmore, Inverness-shire.
