US groom slammed for inappropriate wedding vows promising to 'smack that ass'

A groom in the US has been slammed after his short wedding vows included a promise he'd smack his bride's ass.

The groom admitted he hadn't prepared any words for the special day in Kentucky, much to the shock of people on social media.

A viral TikTok video of the moment has raked in more than 9 million views along with over 16,000 comments from people lamming the groom for his "lack of effort".

"I promise to smack that ass every chance I get. Booyah," the man told his bride. "That's all I got."

The officiant attempted to give him another chance, asking the groom if that was all he had, and the laughing man said that was it.

"Are you sure?" the officiant asked, with a confused expression.

"I didn't write nothing out, that's what I'm going with," he responded.

"Cody no," one man can be heard saying.

TikTok users were quick to agree the effort on the groom's side was "disappointing".

"Even if that's the kind of humour they have together, the wedding vows should've been serious," one woman said.

"This would break my heart," another woman commented. "He didn't care enough about her?"

"She looks so disappointed and embarrassed," another pointed out.

"I'm sure she planned the whole wedding, from the tablecloths to his damn suit, and he couldn't say a few words to express his love for her," one woman said.

"He is literally the only one laughing, even his own friends aren't laughing," another added. "The officiate gave him not one, not two but three chances."
