Golden Globes 2024: Why Pedro Pascal had his arm in a sling on the red carpet - and why his manicure says 'ouchy'

In case you missed it, The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal rocked up to the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (local time) sporting a sling, which naturally prompted questions online about how internet daddy had injured himself.

The 48-year-old cut a dapper figure on the red carpet in his Bottega Veneta ensemble, which comprised of black wool pants and a turtleneck sweater embellished with knotted threads. To accessorise, he teamed the look with a pair of glasses, black patent boots - and the unexpected addition of said sling.

Pascal, who was nominated for Best Performance in a Television Series - Drama for his role as Joel Miller in the wildly popular HBO series, was questioned about the sling by an Associated Press reporter as he made his way along the red carpet.

"What happened to you?" the reporter yelled out, to which Pascal simply responded: "I fell."

After being briefly distracted, he turned back to the journalist and added: "Be careful... it can happen to anybody."

But perhaps the most important element of Pascal's ensemble? His nail art. Closeups show the nails on the actor's out-of-action hand carefully painted with letters that spelled out the word, 'Ouchy'. The attention to detail simply must be applauded.

It's not the first time Pascal's affinity for nail art has been documented. In 2023, The Mandalorian star made Newshub entertainment editor Kate Rodger's day (or even her year) when he interrupted their interview to compliment her nail polish.

"Can I just say one thing? Your nails - they bring out the colour in your eyes," he told Rodger, before adding, "I'm not trying to flirt!"

Despite the broken arm and losing out to Succession's Kieran Culkin, Pascal still appeared to enjoy the Golden Globes ceremony, with several meme-orable moments going viral on X - including Culkin roasting Pascal with a simple, "Suck it, Pedro" during his acceptance speech.

Meanwhile, Sex Education's Gillian Anderson made waves online with her daring outfit - a stunning Gabriela Hearst gown embroidered with vulvas. Very on brand.
