When it comes to the red carpet, the males of Tinseltown typically stick to the tried-and-true fashion formula of a suit - with or without a shirt nowadays - smart shoes, and subtle accessories. Said accessories typically don't include a military-style gas mask.
So when Kelly Osbourne and her mask-clad beau rocked the red carpet at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night (local time), it swiftly became a topic on conservation on social media - with several people seemingly confused as to who was beneath the creepy mask.
The man was in fact Sid Wilson, the turntablist for the heavy metal band Slipknot and Osbourne's partner, with their appearance at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles marking their red carpet debut as a couple.
Slipknot was nominated for best metal performance for the 2022 song 'Hive Mind' from their most recent album, The End, So Far, but the award went to Metallica's '72 Seasons'.
Masks have served as a fundamental part of the band's identity and aesthetic since its formation in 1995, with each member wearing a unique, individual mask during their performances. The style of each mask has changed over the years, with each album heralding a new era of designs; and while Wilson's has changed from album to album, his first ever mask was of the gas variety seen on Sunday's red carpet.
"It was about being intimidating, obviously, but it was also much more of a creative thing. This was a way for us to kind of wear the music on us physically and create something that was striking," Slipknot's singer Corey Taylor said about the masks on Q With Tom Power in September.
As for the rest of his outfit, the 47-year-old DJ donned a two-piece suit with sparkly pinstripes and a white button-down shirt, which he teamed with a colourful scarf printed with a bold insect-themed design and purple tassels.
Osbourne, meanwhile, rocked a black strapless Christian Siriano fishtail gown with mesh details and a bedazzled bag in the shape of a stereo. Her lavender-coloured tresses were styled in bouncy curls, perfectly coordinating with the tassels on Wilson's scarf.
The awards ceremony marks the couple's first red carpet appearance since beginning their relationship in January 2022. The duo, who were friends for 23 years before becoming lovers, welcomed their son Sidney later that year - Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's fifth grandchild.
Meanwhile at the Grammys, rapper Killer Mike was seen being led away in handcuffs just moments after scooping up three awards.
The rapper was seen in footage on social media being taken away from the arena in downtown Los Angeles, but there was no immediate reason given as to why.
"Just spoke to an official who tells me it's a misdemeanor and has nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena. Likely he will be released once it's sorted. 'It's a big nothing,' source says," The Hollywood Reporter's Chris Gardner wrote on X.
