While many of us would put 'napping' as a skill on our CVs if we could, sleeping on the job isn't exactly an attribute most employers are interested in - until now.

Briscoes is on the hunt for a luxury bed sheet tester, offering one professional "sheet snob" $10,000 for a night of sleep - no, you're not dreaming.

The chosen candidate will be a connoisseur of "hotel quality at home", according to the Seek listing, which went live on Wednesday morning. The successful applicant will be tasked with reviewing the Hotel at Home bedroom range, which is now available at Briscoes stores.

To do this, the "luxury bed sheet tester" will be gifted a complete set of Hotel at Home products worth over $3000, including a mattress topper, duvet inner, duvet set, sheets and pillows. The set is in addition to the $10,000 salary, the listing confirms.

"We’re looking for someone who knows how to tell it like it is! You must be truly passionate about sleep, the perfect bedding and able to give us a thorough and honest review," the listing stated.

Applicants must include why they believe they'd be suited to the role and the skills they'd bring to the table (or should that be mattress?)

Applicants should also note that the successful candidate will be required to share their experience with not only the Briscoes team, but their social media followers and the media.

"This includes creating both still and video content for Briscoes’ social channels and speaking to the media about the prize," the listing added.

In a statement, Briscoes general manager Isabel Campbell said the role will go to a bedding buff who is as "serious about sleep" as the brand is.

"We're keen to put our money where our mouth is and hear from Kiwis," she added.

If this sounds like your dream job, get in quick - a representative told Newshub the Seek listing had already received 12 applications in the first two hours, so don't sleep on this one.

Applications close on Monday, June 3 and candidates can apply here via the Briscoes website.
