An Australian influencer has been slammed for her choice of outfit as a wedding guest.
Isabelle Mathers attended her best friend Rachel Dillion's wedding welcome dinner in Italy, wearing a cream-coloured floor-length gown.
Dillion's outfit consisted of a short white off the shoulder dress and matching white heels, while Mathers' dress consisted of a long see-through gown with a trail.
Moments from the day were shared to her Instagram in a photo dump on Friday, stirring up mixed reactions from people online.
Several people were quick to point out that her dress wasn't appropriate to wear, with many concerned she was trying to outshine the bride.
"Why would you choose an outfit like this to wear on our best friend's wedding weekend away?" one woman commented.
"The belly cut out for wedding? Just seems not appropriate," a second person added.
Another woman admitted even for a pre-dinner dress, it was "strange" and "inappropriate".
"It looks too beachy, plus the black underwear screams look at me," she said.
A third woman added: "Did you just outdress the bride to be?"
"It looks like you're the one going to get married, not your best friend."
Another commented: "I thought you were the bride and it was the welcome dinner of your wedding. Maybe a different colour would be more appropriate."
"You forgot your veil," one person added.
Meanwhile, Mathers responded to a comment claiming she had wanted to "outshine the bride."
"The bride is my best friend. You don't think I discussed every single of my outfits with her?" she said.
Since the dinner, Dillion, also an influencer, has shared endless wedding content online to her 1.7 million followers, which Mathers heavily features in.
