Five Domino's pizza stores in Auckland have been put into liquidation after their owner allegedly failed to pay tax.

Siddharth Sharma has also been stripped of his franchisee licence, NZME reported.

The stores will stay open, Domino's general manager Scott Bush said, run by the company's management.

"Our franchisees are independently-owned small businesses, and they are aware of their legal obligations as business owners," he told NZME.

Mr Sharma, who has been a franchisee for a decade, reportedly blamed his failure to pay tax on "doing too many things for one person".

The affected stores are on Queen St, Quay St, Shortland St, Hobsonville Rd and Mt Eden Rd.
