Lotto Powerball $50 million: The numbers you need to win big

It's here.

New Zealand's largest-ever Lotto has just happened and the numbers that could win you a gigantic $50 million have been revealed.

They are: 4, 18, 27, 25, 32, 28. Bonus Ball: 37. Powerball: 3.

The draw is a must-win, meaning that even if no Kiwi has the right numbers, the $50 million has to go. If no one in the first division claims it, it rolls down to the next winning division.

The full results are expected by about 9pm.

More than 2.3 million tickets were sold for Saturday's draw - about 2,300 every minute.

"There is an incredible buzz around the country as Lotto players from all over New Zealand get a ticket for the largest draw in Lotto history," says Marie Winfield, head of communications at Lotto NZ.

If someone scores big, winning the entire $50 million for themselves, it would be the largest win in New Zealand history. Currently, that title is held by a Hibiscus Coast pair who took home $44 million in 2016.

Lotto NZ has spoken to them since their big win, and they have some good advice for future big winners.

"First of all, don't have a heart attack! That's the most important thing to remember," laughs one of the winners.

"But seriously, my best piece of advice is to remember to eat and sleep in the first two weeks. It's the little things like that that are easy to forget in the early days after a big win.

"Finally, the best thing we did was get good financial advice. Make sure they're on the same wavelength as you and go into the conversation with a good idea of what you want to do long-term."

Then there's the big question of how to celebrate! The $44 million winners have this advice.

"Get all the family you want to tell together and let them know the good news straight away - it's so nice having people to talk to as you get your head around it," they say.

"If you're planning on giving gifts, explain the 'what and 'how' to them upfront so everyone is on the same page. Sharing the winnings is most of the fun - it's a moment you'll never forget."

Winfield said earlier this week that she has a feeling we could be seeing multiple winners.

"What I am really looking forward to is Monday morning and having a queue at the winners' room. Instead of having queues in stores, we are going to have a queue at the winners' room, I reckon, on Monday morning as we have multiple winners coming in."
