Kiwis across New Zealand will be heading to their local Lotto store hoping to win a "life-changing" $38 million in the Saturday night draw.
But some stores are luckier than others.
According to Lotto, Unichem Stortford Lodge Pharmacy in the Hawke's Bay is the luckiest Lotto store in the country, with 49 first division wins and more than $39 million in winnings. Coming in second is Richmond Night N Day in Nelson with 35 first division wins.
There's a tie for third between Pak'nSave Riccarton in Christchurch and Coastlands Lotto in Paraparaumu. They have each had 33 first division wins. Rounding out the top five is Hornby Mall Lotto in Christchurch with 32 first division wins.
Looking just at Auckland, Berrymans in Browns Bay is the luckiest store with 27 first division wins, ahead of Mitchell's Paper Power in Northcote and Schofields Stationers Paper Power in Papatoetoe, both of which have had 24 first division wins. They're followed by Manukau Pak'nSave on 23.
Marie Winfield, the head of communications and corporate social responsibility at Lotto, says players across New Zealand want to buy tickets at "lucky" stores.
"We're hearing that there is a lot of buzz around the country with people getting their tickets ahead of tomorrow night's draw. Lotto stores are getting ready for a busy day tomorrow, so to avoid the queues we encourage players to buy their tickets early to make sure they're in to win," she said.
"We know that many Lotto players love to buy their tickets from the lucky stores - some even drive considerable distances to do so.
"We can't wait to meet New Zealand's next multi-millionaire and the champagne will be on ice if anyone does win big this weekend."
If one player takes out the $38 million Powerball draw on Saturday, it would be the second largest Powerball prize ever won. The largest win came in November 2016 when a couple from the Hibiscus Coast took home $44 million. They purchased their ticket at Dairy Flat Food Mart and Liquor.
So far this year, seven multi-millionaires have been made with Powerball, with an average winnings of $14.1 million. Powerball has been won 191 times since its inception in 2001.
