A penthouse apartment in Auckland currently on the market could be the most expensive house listing in the country.
The $42 million home is situated on top of The Pacifica in central Auckland, which is a 54-storey building in Commerce St. The apartment has five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, six garages, and 1219 sqm of floor space - and is spread across the buildings' top two floors.
Pene Milne of New Zealand Sotheby's International Realty, the agent for the home, says from what's advertised and known, it's likely the most expensive residential home on the market in the country when compared to other houses similar to it.
The apartment has caught the eye of both New Zealand and overseas buyers since it has a foreign buyer exemption, meaning those overseas don't need approval from the Overseas Investment Office.
"It is the most exclusive apartment on the market," Milne tells Newshub.
The online listing says the apartment has 360-degree views of Waitematā Harbour and Auckland city. There's also a 24-hour valet and concierge service.
Another bonus for buyers is the penthouse can be purchased as the warm shell it currently is - meaning it has no interior fit-out and can be designed by the owner.
"It was always felt with this particular property, as an apartment of this size and scale, that any buyer might want to choose how they design the interior," Milne says.
"That in itself is quite a unique opportunity for any buyer because usually they really have to work with what's already been completed."
In saying that, Milne adds the concept art on the listing showing what the apartment will look like with the plans is "absolutely beautiful and very, very luxurious".
Milne says the apartment is "certainly a standout" in Australasia and will be a residence of some note.
"Honestly, the views up there are just spectacular. They never cease to take my breath away."
