Fears are growing 190 employees at The Warehouse Group may lose their jobs in an effort to cut costs.
The company shared the proposal with staff at its support office in Auckland on Wednesday, with approximately 190 roles impacted.
"Today we shared a proposal with The Warehouse Group team members based at support offices in Auckland, to make some changes to our structure," a spokesperson for The Warehouse Group.
"This proposed change will allow us to deliver even more value to our customers and further align our digital capabilities while responding to challenging market conditions."
The spokesperson said they are currently consulting with the people affected.
It comes just days after radio giant MediaWorks announced that it will be disestablishing around 90 positions.
In an email sent to staff on Tuesday morning, chief executive Cam Wallace said two-thirds of the company's costs were labour related.
He said the impact of inflationary pressures and a likely recession this year has meant costs must be reduced.
